Our Global Partners, Technology Platforms & Supporters The Digital Citizenship Institute is committed to changing the narrative from the reactive to the proactive; from the negative to the positive. We purposefully move from being consumers to producers, observers to active and engaged participants. We added layers to our approach of being safe, socially responsible and ultimately on social good by solving real problems and creating solutions in communities.
In the Fall of 2011, our founder’s journey took a new approach to digital citizenship as a direct result of teaching a First Year Seminar and the online collaborative project, the iCitizen Project. Her college freshmen in Connecticut connected and collaborated with high school juniors in Alabama to explore citizenship in the 21st Century. The two classrooms separated by geography, defined an iCitizen as a person who thinks and acts locally, globally and digitally.
To this day, what makes our community different is our focus on human connections online. We transform hearts, minds and attitudes by humanizing the person next to us, around the world and across the screen. This perspective is at the heart of what we do at the Institute.
